How Rayaad compares
Rayaad is a vocabulary app: your own words, one swipe per card, and a schedule that runs itself. Here is how that compares with the apps you may already know.
The Anki alternative for vocabulary
Both run FSRS. Only one asks you to set it up. Rayaad is for people who want Anki’s scheduling for their vocabulary, without the settings screen.

Quizlet helps you get a set into your head before a deadline. Rayaad keeps it there afterwards — and the difference is the scheduling.

A course decides what you learn. Rayaad makes sure the words you actually meet are still there next year — the part most learners end up needing.

FSRS from your first card, with nothing to enable, tune or maintain.
One decision per card
Knew it, or did not. The answer people are least sure about is gone.
Built for languages
Any pair, every card can be heard in the right voice, and no streak to protect.
Memrise vs Rayaad
Coming from Memrise
Memrise is content with a review system attached. Rayaad is a review system for the words you collect yourself, in any pair you like.
Memrise began as a home for community-made courses in an enormous number of languages. If what you remember is that idea — a course in a language nobody sells, or a list you write yourself from the first word to the last — Rayaad is built around it: your own list, in your own pair, on a scheduler that takes it seriously.
Why switch to Rayaad
- Your own list, in any language pair — including the many no course covers.
- FSRS gives each word its own gap, learned from your answers and growing into years.
- Everything you add stays editable, and everything comes back out in one file whenever you want.
- Pronunciation on both sides, chosen from your language pair and kept after the first play.
Where they differ
- Memrise is built around official courses with native-speaker video. Rayaad supplies the scheduling and expects the words to be yours.
- Memrise moves every word along the same fixed ladder of intervals, from four hours to six months, and a wrong answer sends it back to the start. Rayaad gives each word its own gap.
- Memrise's community-made courses left the app in 2024 for a separate site; word lists built on Memrise's dictionary returned to the app in 2026. Rayaad has always been built around the list you bring.
- Memrise's audio is recorded by speakers; Rayaad's is synthesised for any language and kept after the first play.
| Rayaad | Memrise | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | People with their own words to keep, in any language pair. | Learners who want official course content, especially with real listening. |
| Where the words come from | You — typed, imported, pasted, drafted by AI and accepted, or installed from a catalog. | Mostly official courses and curated lists. Since 2026 you can also build lists in the app from Memrise's dictionary. |
| Scheduling | FSRS for every card, from your own history, with no daily review limit. | One fixed ladder for every word, from four hours up to six months. A wrong answer goes back to the first step. |
| Listening | Synthesised speech in the right language for each side, kept after the first play. | A signature feature — short clips of native speakers. |
| Languages | Any pair you choose. | Curated content in a large but fixed set of languages. |
| Taking your words with you | One file with every pair, deck, card and review, on any plan, at any time. | A copy of your personal data, delivered as a page to read in a browser. |
